as a private candidate, achieving a Grade 7.
Studying an online learning course alongside full-time school is a challenge but can be very rewarding as Lauren tells us.
Taking my First Step Towards Becoming an Educational Psychologist
A year ago, I decided to take GCSE Psychology with the 365³Ô¹Ï²¿Âä(365³Ô¹Ï²¿Âä). I’ve always been fascinated by how people think and learn, and in the future I’d love to become an Educational Psychologist. Taking this subject felt like the perfect first step towards that dream.
How I Completed my Psychology GCSE in Just One Year Through Online Learning
I studied the course in just one year with the support of the 365³Ô¹Ï²¿Âä(365³Ô¹Ï²¿Âä), all while keeping up with my full-time school studies. It was definitely a challenge at times to balance everything, but 365³Ô¹Ï²¿Âä made the process as smooth as possible. They even organised my exam centre for me, which took away a lot of the stress and made sitting the exam feel much easier.
“In August this year, I got my results – a grade 7! I was absolutely thrilled. It felt amazing to see all that hard work pay off.â€
My Experience of Sitting my GCSE Exams as a Private Candidate
Being a was very different from my usual school experience. I had to be motivated and organised, as there wasn’t a classroom teacher checking in on me every day. At first, that was daunting, but I soon found my own rhythm. The 365³Ô¹Ï²¿Âä resources were clear and easy to follow, and I always knew I could reach out to my tutor if I got stuck.
“I really liked being able to work at my own pace. If I wanted to spend longer on a topic, I could, and if something clicked quickly, I could move on. That flexibility gave me independence and confidence in my learning – skills I know will help me in the future.â€
Looking back, I think the experience has taught me much more than just psychology. It’s shown me how resilient and determined I can be, even when things feel tough and the art of self study which will be so important when I move on to A levels.
“Getting that 7 has given me even more motivation to keep working towards my ambition of becoming an Educational Psychologist. I’m so proud of what I’ve achieved and grateful to 365³Ô¹Ï²¿Âä for supporting me through my first experience as a private candidate.â€
My advice if you are thinking of taking a GCSE as a private candidate:
“If anyone is thinking of taking a GCSE as a private candidate, I’d say go for it. It’s challenging, but it’s also hugely rewarding – and with 365³Ô¹Ï²¿Âä’s support, it really can run smoothly.â€
